Bancon Homes, Maidencraig, Aberdeen

We were proud to partner with Bancon Homes on their 158-unit new-build housing development, delivering both the roofing envelope and an in-roof solar PV installation. Commencing in early 2023 and due for completion in 2027, the project demonstrates the programme efficiencies that are achievable when roofing and renewable energy systems are co-ordinated under a single contractor.

We supplied and installed Russell Highland and FP McCann Duo Thin concrete tiles across the development, alongside the full supply, installation and commissioning of Viridian Solar PV-16 solar systems.

A key feature of the project was the integrated in-roof delivery model. By contracting McLean Roofing to deliver both roofing and solar PV elements, Bancon Homes reduced programme periods and ensured properties were made watertight quickly, allowing internal trades to progress without delay.

The solar commissioning process required careful forward planning. The window of opportunity between properties being powered up and formal handover is tight, therefore strong and positive coordination between our team and Bancon Homes site management was essential to meet the certification process and programme milestones and ensure all paperwork and commissioning of the solar solution was completed on time.

Bancon Homes have been delighted with the results of the partnering approach to date. It has been successful for all parties and our collaboration has led to further contracts being awarded on the same integrated roofing and in-roof solar basis.
